Chornomorsk Port Becomes the First in Greater Odesa to Receive a Liner Container Vessel
A major milestone for Ukraine’s logistics and economy was marked in Chornomorsk: on July 18, the state-owned “Chornomorsk Sea Commercial Port” became the first among all ports of Greater Odesa to receive a liner container vessel. This marks the return of regular container traffic to Ukrainian state ports for the first time since the full-scale invasion began. Over the past 12 months, the port has handled more than 18,000 TEUs, highlighting the gradual recovery of export-import infrastructure. Moreover, on July 16, the port set a new record by processing 470 loaded containers in a single vessel call. Port officials note that maintaining container connectivity during wartime is not only an economic step but also a strategic one. It supports Ukrainian businesses, agricultural exports, and production chains — while reinforcing trust from international partners. Today, Chornomorsk remains the only state-owned port in Ukraine handling container cargo. Efforts are ongoing to expand cooperation, attract new clients, and enhance service quality. State-sector container logistics is a strong signal to global markets: even in the face of war, Ukrainian logistics remains active, resilient, and forward-moving.
